Lone Moose in a Field of White
Original Mixed Media on Wood, Framed in a wide black and gold floater frame.
This piece consists of a large-format photo transfer, which involves a process rarely used nowadays because of the ease of digital photo manipulation. The paper photograph is coated multiple times with a clear acrylic medium, and then soaked in water. The piece is then flipped over, acrylic side down, and the wet paper is slowly rubbed off, in a laborious but satisfying process, revealing an acrylic skin "transparency", which can then be collaged onto a surface (in this case wood or "gesso-board"), and then finished however the artist chooses. I chose to finish it with a heavily textured white acrylic background, that includes iridescent "snowflake" dots.
